Like most people, there are times when being positive and motivated can be a struggle for me. This is the reason I’ve got “How to Win Friends and Influence People” in my car stereo, John Maxwell audio books in my office, daily motivational emails…you get the idea.
Today I was having one of those moments, so I picked up one of the best books I’ve ever read, “Think and Grow Rich” by Napoleon Hill (if you’ve never read this…make it the next book you read), and started going through it. Today, this stuck out:
“There is a difference between wishing for a thing and being ready to receive it. No is ready for a thing until he BELIEVES he can acquire it.” ~Napoleon Hill
So often we sit and wish our situation would change, that we would find a better job, start making more money, find the love of our life, finish remodeling the house, get out of debt, and the lists go on and on…
BUT how often when we’re sitting around wishing these things for our lives are we REALLY ready to see them become reality? I mentioned in a previous blog that opportunity will OFTEN present itself in the form of a failure or setback, but unless we already believe we are capable of achieving the initial goal will we even recognize the opportunity when it appears.
If we haven’t begun that transformation in our belief system that there is no such thing in life as failure, only results – we’re completely unprepared to seize the opportunity when it’s there.
Find those things in your life that help you re-center; that help you re-focus, and have them available whenever you need them. The more you do this, the less and less you’ll need them in the future.
Negativity comes automatically, positivity takes work – but it’s worth it.
